Dr Rob Huebert is a professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Calgary, and the interim director of the Centre for Military Security and Strategic Studies. He is a leading Canadian commentator on Arctic security and defence issues in media, academic and policy circles, and continues to monitor and analyse Arctic defence and international security trends, with a particular focus on strategic policy and military capabilities and how developments impact on Canadian Arctic security. He is also the Network Coordinator of the North American and Arctic Defence and Security Network (NAADSN). His areas of research interests include international relations, strategic studies, the Law of the Sea, maritime affairs, Canadian foreign and defence policy, and circumpolar relations. He is senior fellow with the Laurier MacDonald Institute; and is a research fellow with the Canadian Global Affairs Institute. Dr. Huebert has taught at Memorial University, Dalhousie University, and the University of Manitoba. He publishes on the issue of Canadian Arctic Security, Maritime Security, and Canadian Defence. His work has appeared in numerous journals, co-editor of Canada and the Changing Arctic: Sovereignty, Security and Stewardship; Commercial Satellite Imagery and United Nations Peacekeeping and Breaking Ice: Canadian Integrated Ocean Management in the Canadian North. He also comments on Canadian security and Arctic issues in both the Canadian and international media.
Luncheons are held at the Fairmont Palliser Hotel with a wine and sherry reception at 11:15 am and lunch service at 12:00 pm.
November 5, 2025 luncheon tickets are available for purchase prior to October 27, 2025 by one of the following methods: online; in person at each preceding luncheon; etransfer to payments@wcccalgary.com (including your name and names of your guests in the comment section), or by mailing your cheque to 227 Arbour Ridge Way NW, Calgary, Alberta T3G 3Z3. Tickets or memberships cards must be picked up at the luncheon.
Please be prepared to show your membership card at the door. We cannot guarantee specific seating requests, unless all tickets for your group are purchased at the same time. There are no refunds for missed lunches. September, December & June are guest luncheons.
